What IS... 

"LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™"

Given the 1st Friday in February, EVERY year.

Entertainment Attorney Dedra Davis, was constantly approached by music producers that wanted their music heard, lyricists that had no music, singers that had no music, movie producers that needed music for their films, film directors that wanted to do music videos, etc.

The Worldwide Music Producers' LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™ was Entertainment Attorney Dedra Davis' way to help put all the people together and give them permission to meet one another, talk to one another, and do business with one another. She "dreamed" up the event in October 2002, began planning the event in November 2002, and had the event in February 2003. It took on a "life of its own" and now Entertainment Attorney Dedra Davis has turned this brainchild into a trademarked yearly event.

The 3 main parts are:

 1.  * * * * * MUSIC PRODUCERS' CONTEST * * * * * 

Creative songwriters/composers/music producers from all over the world, submit ORIGNIAL music, and compete to be named as the LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™ Grand Prize winning top music producer. 

The previous entries have been from all over the world, including Croatia, Yugoslavia, Italy, Sweden, Brazil, Mexico and Canada, to name a few of the countries.

2.  * * * * * * * LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™ * * * * * * * *

The original, and copyright registered, music of the 3 finalist of the
LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™ competition will be played at the event. That's right!  All ORIGINAL music!  NO Samples!  PURE TALENT!!!!!

Each finalist of the LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™ competition is introduced to the audience.  The audience then gets an opportunity, by applause, to select the GRAND PRIZE winner.

The 1st LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™ honored 20 top producers, then for 5 years the competition named 10, now in 2009, we are narrowing it down to the 3 finalists, then one (1) GRAND PRIZE winner.  The competition gets much tougher!

Additionally, this portion of the LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™ event gives attendees the
opportunity to exchange business information with other attendees. The
atmosphere fosters dealmaking, and career enhancement.

Attendees consist of filmmakers, celebrity VIP music producers, record label executives,
publishing company executives, and more.

3.  * * * * * * CRUNK OR SKUNK™ * * * * * * * * *

For the 1st time, Crunk or Skunk™ is being added to the Friday night extravaganza.

Artists get an opportunity to have the audience help then decide if a song is a single or not.

Audience holds up "Crunk" sign, if the song IS a single.

Audience holds up "Skunk" sign, if the song is NOT a single.

Then, we allow 3 - 5 folks from each group to tell why they felt the song was a single or not.

Artists, managers, labels!   Get your song judged and get great feedback.

The contest submission requirements are 

as follows:

The submission package must contain: 

(1) one cd with 3 ORIGINAL urban tracks that last 1 minute EACH.
Music only, no lyrics.  NO SAMPLES.

(2) The copyright registration certificate, or a copy of submitted application, along with a copy of the certified mail information.

(3) A cashier's check or money order made out to Dedra Davis, in the amount of $150.00.

(4) A biography or discography.

(5) A photo (if available).

Deadline for submissions is February 6, 2009. 

Packages MUST be postmarked by midnight of February 6, 2009.
